HLA typing is a genetic test through which the unique pattern of genes encoding human leukocyte antigen (HLA) surface proteins on a person’s cells is identified. 

HLA형 검사는 사람의 세포에 있는 인간 백혈구 항원(HLA) 표면 단백질을 암호화하는 유전자의 독특한 패턴을 확인하는 유전자 검사입니다.

In a clinical approach, this information is used e.g., to match donors and recipients for organ transplants or perform successful blood transfusions or stem cell transplantations.

A person’s individual HLA type can also be used in diagnostics for autoimmune diseases, to identify differences between cancer vs. normal cells, develop (cancer) drugs and vaccines or to determine the genetics of a disease.
